US Sends Bombs and F-35s to Israel

Yitzhak ben Moshe, Editor/Reporter

“We have continued to support Israel’s right to defend itself,” said a White House official. “Conditioning aid has not been our policy.”

The United States government has authorized the transfer of fighter jets and bombs to Israel, even as it expresses concerns about the upcoming military offensive in Rafah.

What is Israel receiving?

1,800 MK-84 2,000-pound bombs
500 MK-52 500-pound bombs
25 F-35s that were previously approved by Congress in 2008

Annually, the United States provides $3.5 billion in military assistance to Israel, a longtime ally of the US. Since the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza, the US has been providing air defense and munitions to Israel.

There are, however, Democrats and Arab American groups criticizing the Biden administration for its support of Israel.

CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, has been one leading group openly criticizing the Biden administration’s support of Israel. Edward Ahmed Mitchell of CAIR has said, “If the president stops sending the weapons, Netanyahu cannot continue the genocide.”

Nihad Awad, the executive director, and co-founder of CAIR, said at the 16th Annual Convention for Palestine in Chicago on 24 November, “The people of Gaza only decided to break the siege — the walls of the concentration camp — on Oct. 7,” Awad said. “And yes, I was happy to see people breaking the siege and throwing down the shackles of their own land and walk free into their land that they were not allowed to walk in.”

After Awad and CAIR were criticized by the White House, Awad said, “The horrific, brutal terrorist attacks committed by Hamas on October 7th were, as President Biden said, ‘abhorrent’ and represent ‘unadulterated evil,’” he added, noting it “was the deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.”

Democrats have been very vocal about their support of Hamas, and their condemnation of Israel.

“The Biden administration needs to use their leverage effectively and, in my view, they should receive these basic commitments before greenlighting more bombs for Gaza,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said in an interview. “We need to back up what we say with what we do.”

On 24 March 2024, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared on CNN.

“As we speak, in this moment, 1.1 million innocents in Gaza are at famine’s door,” Ocasio-Cortez said in her speech Friday. “A famine that is being intentionally precipitated through the blocking of food and global humanitarian assistance by leaders in the Israeli government.”

“If you want to know what an unfolding genocide looks like,” the New York Democrat added, “open your eyes.”

Vice President Kamala Harris also said this past Sunday that the US would not rule out consequences for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government if he moves forward with a military offensive in Rafah, where more than a million people are crammed into a sprawling tent city, describing such a decision as a “mistake.”

Still, others support Israel.

“We have continued to support Israel’s right to defend itself,” a White House official told The Washington Post. “Conditioning aid has not been our policy.”

The world needs to understand that Israel is the last stop before groups like Hezbollah and ISIS begin wholesale attacks on the West. They will not stop once they eradicate one opposing religious view – us, the Jews, and Israel. They will come after you and Christianity next.
