5 April 2025, El Paso, Texas, Steven Zimmerman – We have received word that a mountain rescue is happening at Tom Mays Park.

MOUNTAIN RESCUE Location: 2900 Tom Mays Park, El Paso, Texas 79911
Overview: April 5, 2025 at 12:26 hours
El Paso Police Department Units are responding to a mountain rescue.
COMSAR is responding to the scene.
Scene still active.
Additional information:
18-year-old male with a fractured ankle. This occurred about six (6) hours ago. The notice was sent department-wide just after noon today.
A third party, not an individual at the scene, called in for assistance.
Ten EPPD and El Paso Fire individuals, including Captain Jones from the El Paso Fire Department, have been called in for support. Park Rangers are also assisting.
The command post is on scene.
At 1308, COMSAR units were at the scene.
1315 Park Rangers indicated the injured party was taken off the mountain.
No serious injury was reported. COMSAR remains on scene.
We applaud the El Paso Police Department, the El Paso Fire Department, and the Park Rangers for quickly responding and helping the injured individual. Great work!
Great job to all involved. It is a blessing that the boy is not too badly hurt.
