Thank you for printing the latest story from the El Paso Police Department. When the story went to print, Lt. Rodriguez started his blame game, a rampage against his officers. It is mentioned throughout the Region of Officers and other shifts that Lt. Rodriguez began to make verbal threats toward his shift, threats of taking them out to the rear of the parking lot (northeast regional command center) and boxing them out of them because they have a problem with him. This story exposed abuse of extra duties, schedule changes on a whim, and overtime abuse.
Lt. Rodriguez, it is crucial to consider the implications of your actions. Using threats and intimidation to assert your authority is not only ineffective but also detrimental to the morale and productivity of your team. Please reflect on your behavior and take steps to rectify the situation.
Please remember that any attempt or any form to expose any person or people will be considered retaliation, hostile work environment, threats, harassment, or any other US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission based on a federal level. Will your Department back you and turn a blind eye to your antics? Are we really ignoring the factual element of this piece (article)? You have been exploiting the extra duties for your personal gain. If I were your shift, I would unite and start putting in federal claims against your Department for the immediate threats you made verbally, such as Boxing people in the back of the parking lot. The consequences of these actions could be severe for you and the Department.
