This chase caused a school to be placed on lockdown. The lockdown was lifted at 1:12 this afternoon.

3 December 2024, El Paso, Texas, Steven Zimmerman—Gang units of the El Paso Police Department, assisted by patrol, were engaged in a high-speed chase this afternoon.

The call went out at 12:14 this afternoon, originally as someone driving recklessly.

A female driver in a stolen vehicle, a black Toyota Sedan, evaded law enforcement from Socorro, Centera, and Valley. It was believed the driver had an unrestrained child in the car. When the suspect was stopped in Northeast El Paso, police discovered no child in the car.

The alleged suspect, Perla Valdez, is now in police custody.
